About the Author

Robert E. McGrath is a retired Computer Scientist who lives in Urbana, Illinois, USA.

I studied Anthropology and Psychology, and completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science.

I worked for decades as a Software Engineer, documenter, and team leader; helping to create the Internet as well as slews of software (some of which is still in use).

I’ve always been interested in the intersection of people and technology, which is surely one of the core stories of the last fifty years.  In retirement, I blog about things that interest me, including cryptourrency, robots, dinosaurs, and books.

Digital technology (that I helped launch) has enabled the gig economy, which is often said to be the “future of work”.  If this is the future of work, then I worry about the future of workers.
